Let’s Talk: The beginning

I started my first blog back in 2004. I was 16 years old, had just moved to a new school and things were’t working out as I thought they would. So I used the internet as my escape.

I wrote short stories, I wrote about my life. I wrote under the name “Roxie” on a blog called Simply Rose. I never said my name, I never said where I lived and I never used the real names of people in my life. I had to use my Dad’s computer to access the internet and I must say I was pretty shocked when I got my first comment.

In 2006 someone I actually knew in my “real” life, found my blog and used it against me. She started taking things out of the context, fictional stories written years before. She “outed” me to my friends, or people I thought were real friends and she made fun of me.

I was 18, did not know how to deal with this whole situation. I had lost one of my oldest friends in a car accident just months before and I just didn’t know how to deal with it. So I deleted the blog.

But I missed it. I missed writing, I missed the interaction with readers, I missed everything about it. So I started “Teacups and Dresses” in 2011 and have not stopped writing since then. I discovered my love for girly things, interior decorating and cats. I broadened my writing style and my blog subjects. I wrote some guest posts in Portuguese sites and blogs and actually made some money off of it. OK, maybe 50€ isn’t much, but you know what, to me it is!

I made a lot of friends thought blogging. I met people from all over the world. We e-mail each other and encourage each other and are happy for each other.

Blogging isn’t easy. Whoever thinks it means just opening the page and write is wrong. Blogging is way more than that.

I am no longer ashamed to call myself a blogger. I am a Blogger, with a capital “B”. For almost 11 years now. And I’m not thinking of ever stopping.

This is my blog. This is my life.

This is Rosie’s Life.

And I invite you all along on my journey.
