Makeup Revolution – I ♥ Makeup Chocolate and Peaches
Makeup Revolution had been on my radar for a while now since it is pretty affordable. It is well known for making dupes for some very popular eyeshadow palettes at a fraction of the price, without slacking in the quality department! More than enough to try it out, right?
I recently decided to order the I ♥ Makeup Chocolate and Peaches palette from Makeup Revolution. It only costs 13,90€, which is super affordable for the 16 eyeshadows you get for your money!
Dupe for Too Faced Sweet Peach Eye Shadow Palette?
Rumors say the I ♥ Makeup Chocolate and Peaches is a dupe for the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette. To be honest, some of the colors do look similar, but the MR palette has two shadows less than the Too Faced one. Additionally, they don’t have the exact same shades – at least not when you compare them one to one.
Full disclosure: about seven years ago I bought a limited edition palette from Too Faced and absolutely hated it! The quality was far from good, the eyeshadows were far from pigmented and would crease even when using an eyeshadow primer. I vowed never to buy any palettes from Too Faced. Since then I have heard the quality of their eyeshadows has gotten better. However, I cannot say so myself, because I never got any more eyeshadows or palettes from the brand. Mostly because none of them caught my eye and felt worth the money.
The eyeshadow colors
The colors of this palette are totally up my alley! They are neutral and natural – what I prefer on a day to day basis. I don’t see much difference between the two lighter shades (in the upper left and bottom right corners). And yes, some of the shades do look very similar, as you can see better in the next picture.
I feel like Fruit, Candy and Rich are all pretty similar. It probably also does not help that they all have a shimmery finish – if the finishes were different I wouldn’t feel this way. Fine is also pretty similar to both Candy and Rich, but because it is matte, I sort of get it.
There are two finishes in the I ♥ Makeup Chocolate and Peaches palette: shimmery and matte. Ten of the shadows are shimmery – the four right ones on the first row and all of the second row. Like I mentioned before, I find some of the shades pretty similar, which is a shame. I honestly don’t see much of a difference in the two bigger shades in the upper left and bottom right corners (Delicious and Satisfy). Seriously, no difference whatsoever!
My opinion: is the I ♥ Makeup Chocolate and Peaches worth the money?
Quite honestly, I was not impressed with this palette. Don’t get me wrong: the colors are beautiful, but the quality isn’t necessarily what I am used to. I have used it a few times and the shadows aren’t as pigmented as I would have expected. Also, the matte shadows don’t blend so easily, which makes me take longer if I actually want to do an eye look in the morning. Something I did find positive is the fact that the shadows absolutely did not crease! I used a primer, but I’ve tried eyeshadows that crease even if using a primer underneath.
Please bear in mind I always use my Naked palettes as quality “standard”, which means I end up being disappointed a lot when I compare other palettes to it. I like to know that I can do my makeup in the morning and it will stay in place the way I put it, even after 10 hours.
However: If you don’t want to spend too much money, whether it is because you’re still testing out what you like or simply don’t have the money to spare, I think this would be a good palette for you! This would absolutely be a good starting palette and I would rate it’s quality as medium – again, compared to the quality of the Naked palettes from UD.
