The Pantone Fall/Winter 2016 color picks

Even though I’m not a fashion blogger and I don’t follow all the trends, one thing I do love doing is checking Pantone’s color picks! I find it fun to see what they choose, how they describe the colors and how I like (or dislike) them.

For the Fall/Winter season of 2016 Pantone has picked ten shades they to be the season’s colors. And for once, I think I like all of them! I will not wear all of them myself, but I do like them and I can see how they harmonize with each other.

Pantone 2016 Fall/Winter

Riversidea darker blue with a grey undertone, this is a shade that depicts Fall and Summer weather for me. It reminds me of dark cloudy days and is a beautiful shade.

Airy blue – this color reminds me a lot of the Serenity shade that was one of the colors called the “it” color for Spring and Summer. They say it’s “lofty nature evokes feelings of lightness and freedom”.

Sharkskin – I love the name of this grey color and it totally suits the shade! It can be paired with virtually any color you want, it’s a very muted and neutral grey with a subtle edge to it.

Potter’s Clay – this rusty color is definitely one of my favorites! It reminds me of the color tree leaves have during fall and I think could also be considered a neutral, depending on the outfit. It also remind me of my mother, as it is a type of color she likes to wear.

Bodacious – this is definitely one of the brightest colors of the pick. It’s a very bright purple which you wouldn’t expect to see in the colder seasons, yet works perfectly with the rest of the palette.

20160212_Pantone-ArticleWarm taupe – a timeless color, which can be paired with all of the other shades. It’s a darker, more grounded beige, which to me evokes a sense of elegance and finesse.

Dusty cedar – it’s a dustier pink shade with more complexity than it’s big sister, the color of the year “Rose Quartz”. It’s warmer and a variation of the pinks we usually see in the warmer months. I think this would pair amazingly with Sharkskin and Riverside!

Lush meadow – such a lovely emerald-like color! It’s rich, fresh, elegant and sophisticated and I love it! I usually go more for dustier, cooler military-like greens, but this jewel green has stolen my heart.

Spicy mustard – from all of the colors, I think this one is the one I have the biggest love-hate relationship with. I once bought a mustard-colored cardigan and it looked horrible against my skin. It’s a color I find very unusual and that pairs beautifully with the rest.

Aurora red – bold, warm, sexy red. I wouldn’t necessarily wear it in clothes, but I think I’d love it in nail polish or lipsticks! It evokes confidence and warmth and would look amazing with Warm Taupe or even Lush Meadow!

All in all I am in love with the colors of this season! They fit so well together and I’m really pleased with all the unexpected touches some of them brought to the palette.

What do you think? Which is your favorite color of the bunch?
